Albert Francis Charles Augustus Emmanuel Biography

Prince Prince {albert Emmanuel|prince consort}|Albert Francis Charles Augustus Emmanuel|prince consort} of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (Francis Albert Augustus Charles Emmanuel; twenty six August 1819 – fourteen Dec 1861) was the husband and consort of Victoria.

He was born within the Saxon demesne of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, to a family connected to several of Europe's ruling monarchs. At the age of twenty, he married his cousin-german, Queen Victoria; they'd 9 kids. at first he felt unnatural by his role of consort, that didn't afford him power or responsibilities.

He bit by bit developed a name for supporting public causes, like instructional reform and also the abolishment of slavery worldwide, and was entrusted with running the Queen's family, workplace and estates. He was heavily attached  the organisation of the good Exhibition of 1851, that was a powerful success.

Victoria came to rely a lot of and a lot of on his support and steerage. He assisted  the event of Britain's constitutional autarchy by persuading his better half to be less partisan in her dealings with Parliament—although he actively disagreed with the interventionist policy pursued throughout Lord Palmerston's tenure as Foreign Secretary. In 1857, Albert was given the formal title of prince.

Albert died at the comparatively young age of forty two. Victoria was desolate, entered into a deep state of mourning, and wore black for the remainder of her life.

On her death in 1901, their eldest son succeeded as Edward VII, the primary British monarch of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, named once the nobleman house to that Albert belonged.
